Cycling

The French love to cycle, and there is no shortage of choice for visitors to the Mobihan. At Lesbergeronnnettes we can also offer secure indoor cycle storage on site*.

With the immediate area of the "Forêt Domaniale de Camors" which contains well maintain routes that criss-cross 650 hectares of woodland. You can access the Forest direct from Les Bergeronnettes via a private gateway to join the well signposed and colour coded routes. Route detailed maps are available from the Mairie in Camors.

For a more energetic ride, explore the local country lanes and cycle routes. As the roads are uncrowded by UK standards and well maintained, this is a great way to explore the local villages. The undulating hills of the area do mean that you will either have to be reasonably fit, or else get off to push up hills! There are also many off-road cycle routes in the area.

If you prefer a more leisurely cycle along the flat there is the towpath beside the river Blavet or the well maintained towpath of the the Nantes-Brest Canal, which is a 20 minute drive away.

The Blavet Valley is particularly popular with cyclists, and has been given official recognition for its newly formed tracks and circuits - To date, there are 100 km of way-marked routes over 9 trails. The Blavet Valley runs from Hennebont to Pontivy and beyond (about 10 miles north and west of Les Bergeornnettes).

Cycle enthusiasts can also head for the Velopark near Pontivy. It’s a 100 acre park set in the heart of the forest with a bike museum, plenty of cycle routes to follow, a shop and a good bar.

Of course the carneval of the Tours de France 2008 passed directly through the local area and particularly Plouvigner, Camors, Baud and Pontivy much to the excitement of the locals, and is often retraced by clubs and enthusiasts alike.

Le Manoir de l’Automobile

Formula 1 starting gridLe Manoir de l’Automobile is one of the most beautiful museums dedicated to the history of the car and welcomes heritage and car enthusiasts to the village of Lohéac located 20 minutes south of Rennes.

In its halls you find a lot of Alpine models with historic values. Founder Michel Hommell directs a media company and is an enthusiast of Alpine automobiles. With eighteen years he bought his first classic car, a Renault NN.

With time the collection grew steadily and in 1973 he bought a house in the village of Loheac in the heart of Britanny. Later on he decided to reconstruct the buildings to hold his automobile collection.

Today The Manoir de l’Automobile area is 10.000 square kilometers and houses a collection of 500 motor vehicles from around the world, dating back to 1899, plus a starting grid for 18 Formula 1 cars and also includes a cidre bar, engine hall, a gallery with varying objects and an miniature collection.

The Alpine car collection is impressing. Even a A210 and a M63 are presented. You find GT4 Coupe, A106 and A108 Cabriolet, different A110 models.

Nearby a racing circuit as well as a karting course can be used, too. The opening hours comprise the weekend only.
